Children Learn What They Liveby Dorothy Law Nolte
If children live with criticism,
they learn to condemn.
If children live with hostility,
they learn to fight.
If children live with fear,
they learn to be apprehensive.
If children live with pity,
they learn to feel sorry for themselves.
If children live with ridicule,
they learn to feel shy.
If children live with jealousy,
they learn to feel envy.
If children live with shame,
they learn to feel guilty.
If children live with encouragement,
they learn confidence.
If children live with tolerance,
they learn patience.
If children live with praise,
they learn appreciation.
If children live with acceptance,
they learn to love.
If children live with approval,
they learn to like themselves.
If children live with recognition,
they learn it is good to have a goal.
If children live with sharing,
they learn generosity.
If children live with honesty,
they learn truthfulness.
If children live with fairness,
they learn justice.
If children live with kindness and consideration,
they learn respect.
If children live with security,
they learn to have faith in themselves.
If children live with friendliness,
they learn the world is a nice place in which to live.

I love it. We have this hanging up in my school- it speaks a lot to me :)
Beautiful. It's up at my daughter's school. Over from SITS hope you're enjoying your four day week x
I love that poem. And it is so, so true. Stopped by from SITS and Scotland. x
I've always loved that. My son's kindergarten teacher had that on a poster up in her classroom. Glad I stopped by from SITS!
Stopping by from SITS! Love the poem!
This is an absolute great reminder to all of us. Its the "village's" responsibility to do all these things to try to ensure the people running this place [world] in the future are equipped. Thanks for sharing!

I love that poem!!! I used to teach kindergarten and I had that poem up on my wall!
Thanks for visiting my site from SITS. I am a follower of you now!!
Fantastic Poem! As for your upcoming 1/2, good luck! I just ran my first one last weekend with my husband and now have three more this month, CRAZY. But it was so fun, I had no idea that running in a race would be WAY more fun than just running the hills alone!
Classic and so true. Stopping by from SITS Roll Call from earlier today to say hello.
I had that hanging in my classroom when I was teaching as well. So true!
Visiting you from SITS--have a great day!
